AC Tune-Up and Inspection at a Great Value http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/ac-tune-up-and-inspection-at-a-great-value/ http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/ac-tune-up-and-inspection-at-a-great-value/#comments Mon, 20 Jun 2011 20:19:07 +0000 admin http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/?p=68 AC unitS&E Air Conditioning and Heating in Dallas believes that a routine tune up and inspection is necessary to keep your air conditioning running efficiently this summer. When the DFW area starts getting into the triple digit heat, many older cooling units just can’t take the extra work and break down or work ineffectively. In this economy not everyone can afford just to go out and buy a brand new AC unit, so the best option you have is to call your Dallas, Texas HVAC company to check that your air conditioner will make it through the summer.

S&E is committed to making our clients comfortable whether it be in an office building or simply a home. Our inspection can save a load of stressful time and money. A simple and quick AC inspection could diagnose even the smallest issue that might cause later damage or failure of your unit. Such visits can prevent your unit from going out in the middle of our hot Dallas summer.

A tune up should be performed at least once every year around this time. This ensures that your air conditioning is running at its optimum capacity. Old, un-tuned ACs can be the cause of high electric bills and unfortunately warm houses and offices. A simple tune up could have your AC running like brand new.

Best of all first time customers receive both a tune up and an inspection for only $59!

Commercial Ventilation http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/commercial-ventilation/ http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/commercial-ventilation/#comments Thu, 02 Jun 2011 18:56:12 +0000 admin http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/?p=46 ceiling fan

common air handler

S&E Air conditioning of DFW knows how important it is to have the proper heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems for you small or large office buildings. The work environment can be stressful and uncomfortable enough without the proper ventilations system. The last thing you need while you’re working is to be distracted by an unpleasant odor or a muggy environment. S&E is here to help with all your commercial HVAC needs.

Proper ventilation not only ensures the indoor air quality is up to stringent standards, but it also removes smells, excess moisture, introduces outside air, removes bacteria, keeps air circulating throughout a building, and prevents stagnation. There are two types of ventilation: mechanical and natural.

Mechanical ventilation uses what is called an air handler. A good example of this would be something like a fan. Often times these are used as vents in bathrooms to remove odors and humidity. Forced ventilation often takes quite a bit of energy especially when used in humid climates like here in North Texas. These air handlers also tend to cause some noise, so it isn’t often used in main areas but more for break areas and restrooms.

Natural ventilation uses outside air without using any kind of mechanical device. Sometimes this is done by opening windows to allow air to circulate in and out. There is also something called a trickle vent for smaller offices and spaces. The office may also be set up where warm air can rise and flow out of upper opening forcing cool air to be drawn into the building. Unfortunately in a place like Dallas, such ventilation systems may save energy but are not efficient enough for the summer months. There are air side economizers which allow for natural ventilation using mechanical fans and the like without using as much energy as mechanical installation.

Summer Energy Saving Tips While On Vacation http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/summer-energy-saving-tips-while-on-vacation/ http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/summer-energy-saving-tips-while-on-vacation/#comments Wed, 18 May 2011 21:40:35 +0000 admin http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/?p=34 Summer vacation expenses can add up quickly. So save some money and energy on your unoccupied house while you’re gone with these energy saving tips from your local Dallas TX air conditioning service experts.

Program your thermostat to hold at a higher temperature than when you occupy your home. Do not turn off your ac unit altogether because you want minimal airflow. Set it at something that will turn on for a while at least once a day.

Double check your doors and windows are closed tight before you leave for vacation. Letting outside air in, even the smallest amount for a prolonged time can make the AC unit work more than it needs.

Unplug electronic appliances that do not need to be on. Small amounts of electricity called phantom loads will be used while you are not using the appliances. Turn off all lights except for maybe a lamp or two to make it look like someone is home at night.

Pull curtains and shades on east and west windows in your home to help keep heat out. The morning and afternoon sun can add unnecessary heat to your home and cause your air conditioner to turn on when you may not want it to.

The most effective way to save money and energy while on vacation is to turn your water heater thermostat down to the lowest setting. Energy efficient water heater choices like this can help reduce wasted money and energy.

The professionals at S&E Air Conditioning and Heat, your Dallas air conditioning company, are here to help you with all your energy saving needs. Give us a call or contact us online to schedule an air conditioning inspection today.

Keeping Your Air Ducts Clean http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/keeping-your-air-ducts-clean/ http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/keeping-your-air-ducts-clean/#comments Wed, 27 Apr 2011 22:21:49 +0000 admin http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/?p=25 Air Duct CleaningKeeping your air ducts clean is extremely important, particularly with spring allergens at a high right now. Airborne contaminants, such as pollen, dust mites and pet dander, are drawn through the duct work of your central air conditioning system, and they have the potential of trigger respiratory problems large and small.

The goal with your AC unit always is to improve your indoor air quality, which refers to the value of air within your home as it relates to the health and comfort of you and your family. Poor indoor air quality could mean an unscheduled visit to your doctor or allergist, which means extra, unplanned money spent.

A clean furnace or air conditioner and clean air ducts serve as a basic answer to avoiding the allergens and contaminants that can play on your respiratory system. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, having proper indoor air quality in a home is one of the top five health concerns nationwide. Thorough duct cleaning is an excellent way to make sure your indoor air quality is safer.

Have your air ducts cleaned if you spot visible mold inside the duct or around components of your cooling system. It’s good to have your ducts cleaned regularly, as insects and vermin that frequent these areas can leave feces. Excessive amounts of dust, debris and random particles can clog your ducts, which also plays a role in poor indoor air quality.

Our Dallas TX cooling experts are here to assist you with proper indoor air quality. Call our Dallas HVAC company today, or visit us online for more information.

Residential & Commercial Insulation Tips http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/residential-commercial-insulation-tips/ http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/residential-commercial-insulation-tips/#comments Tue, 22 Mar 2011 17:26:07 +0000 admin http://sande.adviceinteractivegroup.net/blog/?p=4 InsulationWhen it comes to energy conservation and cost-efficiency, home insulation can be the answer to a problem in regards to residential and commercial buildings. A solid insulation system not only will protect a home or office from the intense heat or cold outside but also will reduce heating and cooling needs.

Experts agree that a handful of residential and commercial properties do not have the proper insulation. Approximately 80 percent of homes built before 1980 are believed not to have sufficient insulation. Our Dallas TX heating and cooling specialists understand that some question if their homes fall into the under-insulated category. Here are three reasons why added insulation may be a good idea.

  • Bill decrease: Check your monthly bills. If they appear to skyrocket during the colder and warmer month, it may detect a need for extra insulation. You want to be comfortable – in your home and with your bank account.
  • Defender of sound: Insulation, in addition to protecting you from the temperatures, serves as a great noise muffler. Insulation deadens sound, so the noise from outside practically stays outside.
  • Play the percentages: If you own a home built before 1980, there’s a good chance that your home is a statistic. Eighty percent is a large-enough number to where you should at least have a contractor check your property out.

Let our Dallas HVAC experts assist you in escalating the comfort level of your home with ample insulation. Call us today, or visit us online for information.

Manage Your Indoor Air Quality http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/manage-your-indoor-air-quality/ http://www.se-ac-heat.com/blog/manage-your-indoor-air-quality/#comments Tue, 15 Feb 2011 14:13:16 +0000 admin http://sande.adviceinteractivegroup.net/blog/?p=1 Indoor Air QualityYour furnace and air conditioning systems, in addition to providing quality heating and cooling, can serve as the breeding ground of various allergens and contaminants that could play a minor or major role in your health. When it comes to improving your indoor air quality, you must rid your home as much as possible of dust particles, mold and other like pollutants.

By keeping your air ducts clean, you can keep your HVAC system running at full throttle and steer it away from unnecessary breakdown. A clean system, according to experts, also can give a heating or cooling system a better opportunity to have a longer life expectancy.

Make sure you are cleaning your air ducts regularly. How often ducts should be cleaned depends on your environment. Families with pets or families with smokers are suggested to clean their ducts more often than nonsmokers or those without pets. Those individuals with severe allergies also are asked to clean their ducts periodically.

For more information about air ducts or your indoor air quality, feel free to contact our Dallas TX HVAC representatives. Call us today, or visit us online.
